No Time To Stitch Tonight

I've just a few minutes to do some posting,I've got to get some work done around the house tonight but I really wanted to get some pics of the (girls) on my blog. Here is Sage, the dalmation, she's 6 and is so smart it's scary. Molly is the pom that's all fur, and Emmie is the new pom not quite 6 months old yet, so she still has some growing to do and hasn't got her full coat yet. Their all spoiled rotten. But we wouldn't have it anyother way.
I did knit on Steve's sock for a whilelast night. I can't knit for too long at a time, it just gets my hands but I still enjoy it. Also stitched on PS N is for Nest. I'll try to get a pic on here in the Friday or Saturday.

What a night!!!

Tonight I decided to start N is for Nest from the Prairie Schooler alphabet series. I have all of them done to that point. After dinner I thought I'd start a sock for my husband and work on it for an hour or so before starting the PS. Well, our new pom thought differently.
She is not quite 6 months old and was WIRED FOR SOUND tonight. Not quite sure what she was on but I don't think that kind of energy comes naturally. She was either trying to get into stuff or was terrorizing the other dogs. In an hour and a half I managed to cast on 64 st of the sock. I finally gave up until she crashed for a nap and then got the PS project started. I didn't get enough of it done to make it worth a photo.
Maybe tomorrow will go better.

Ornament Weekend

This was a movie and stitching weekend. We never go to the movies, because I don't like to set for 2 hours without something else to do. We decided to rent 3 movies and veg-out this weekend. I think the cold, gloomy weather probably has something to do with it too. I stopped on the It's Be Cold ornament and started the Christmas House Friday night which will also be made into an ornament. I think it's coming along very nicely. Every year I say I'm going to make some ornaments for the next year and all I ever get done are the 2 I have to do to give away. I also cut the fabric for Quaker Christmas Sampler today. I'm changing the floss to DMC. A dark Christmas green, red and gold. The fabric is 36ct. Sand linen. Here's the 2 projects I've been working on this last week. I can't decide if I want to continue on these 2 pieces since they are going so quickly or if I want to start something else for this week. I guess I'll decide tomorrow.

It's Be Cold Inside and Out!

It's be Cold is the ornament I started the other day. I'm stitching on 28 ct over 1 so I can make it into an ornament. I'm about 1/2 way finished. I need to get a pic posted, maybe Friday since I work tomorrow and our stitching group meets tomorrow night. We are getting some snow flurries tonight but should not get any accumulation.
This winter has not been too bad, just cold and windy with a couple of small snows.
Yet I just hate winter and can't wait for spring to see some color. I'm thinking of starting some more small projects and do a rotation. I've been reading where others are rotating projects and some stitchers seem to be doing well and others say they can't stay with it. I'm not sure if I can stay with it either because I like to stitch on one project until I grow tired of it and then switch off to another one.
I have purchased a basket at WallyWorld to have by my chair to keep my wips in, to make it easier to switch off to another one. I stitch in the familyroom and in the livingroom upstairs so I have 1 project at each location that I'm stitching on.

I started another pair of socks Sunday, these are for my husband, but the gage is too far off and after knitting the cuff, I could tell I'm going to have to buy a smaller set of double pointed needles.
Of course, all we have in town is WallyWorld for knitting supplies and they only carry 2 sizes of needles so the sock has been unravaled, awaiting a new start.

I still need to finish putting the Christmas stuff away. The tree was undecorated Sunday. I got all of those decorations put back in the rubbermaid containers. My husband got the tree put away yesterday but there is quite a gathering of santas and misc decorations on my diningroom table waiting for me to get another rubbermaid out for them. I planned on doing that tonight but after balancing the checkbook and reading a couple of blogs, I'm just tired and don't feel like dragging the rubbermaids out from under the basement steps. I have to get it done this weekend.

That's it for now, maybe I can get about 30 min. in of stitching before bed.

Wahoo! 2 Finishes

Since I have had the last two weeks off, I have had time to do lots more stitching and knitting. Today I finished a knitted scarf that I had started last winter. I didn't get it finished before winter was over so I had just put it away. I used a purple Paton's Twister. Also finished the socks that I was knitting for myself. Nothing fancy, just a basic sock. I was very pleased with the way they came out. And the best part.... They fit! I'm wearing them right now. I've never had wool socks before and was anxious to see how warm they are. Their feeling pretty cozy.
I found a freebie pattern tonight for men's socks so just got my husband a pair started. Hopefully they will turn out as well as mine.

A Finish From Dec.

Here's a picture of a message notepad kit I purchased a few years ago. It's from Indigo Rose. Although I have lots of experience sewing, I have not done finishing like this.
It was very easy. And was nice to come as a kit so I didn't have to cut the cardboard and find finishing fabric. I didn't take a pic of the inside but it holds the little pink "While You Were Out" notepads.
This morning I spent quite some time kitting up projects for this coming year.
My projects for this coming year as of today are the following.
1. It's Be Cold and older design from At The Hop. I am going to stitch it over one so it comes out small for an ornament.
2. Home For Christmas from 4 My Boys. Again I'm stitching over 1 to make into an ornament.
3. Yellow House Sampler from Praiseworthy Stitches. I'm stitching this on 32ct. Legacy from Picture This Plus.
4. Quaker Christmas from By Gone Stitches
5. Jig of the Lady Bug from Bent Creek. I will make into a pillow.
6. Dance of the Bumble Bee from Bent Creek. I will also make into a pillow.
That's my list for now. I will be adding to it as I go thru charts.
I worked at a cross stitch shop for 24 years, changing jobs just 2 years ago. Needless to say I could open my own shop with what I have accummulated over that time. I have over 500 patterns not counting magazines, freebies and kits.
Tons of fabric,and fibers.
But after kitting up Quaker Christmas, I don't have the right threads for it, so I will have to purchase it.

Have a great day.

My First Finish for 2009

It's the first day of the new year and I have my first finish for the new year. Here's a photo of it.
Call of the Ocean by X Appeal. I bought this chart when we were at Needle Delights in Pensacola, FL this summer. My husband and I love anything to do with the beach. But living in Mid-Missouri our trip to the beach comes once a year. When I saw this pattern and read the words, that was exactly how I felt. There's nothing as peaceful as setting on the beach, listening to the waves.
